React to an Ambush
Ok, so you and your team are bee-bopping down the trail. You have forgotten everything you read and practiced and are about to walk into an ambush. (GREAT) Your team is fairly well spread out and as you round a turn on the trail all hell breaks loose. The player to your right gets nailed immediately as everyone else on the team either freezes like deer in the headlights ( making great targets) or they are all bailing every which way in an "everyone for himself" panic. Face it , you are screwed!! So what now? Well that depends on several things. Ambushes are set to destroy the other team before they can react. You need to determine if the ambush is close to your team OR if someone maybe jumped the gun and has given you a little distance before springing the trap. Actions to be taken In a near ambush (one that is close to you and the fire is accurate and you can throw paint grenades) those in the kill zone will immediately return fire, throw grenades, and advance through the ambush. They are pretty much screwed anyway. Those members of the team not directly in the kill zone, will take cover to positions where they can still fire from. They will lay down a massive amount of suppressive fire while the guys caught out in the open will try to blow their way through the ambush. The suppression team continues to fire BUT shifts their shots away from their own team as they assault through. Once the mad dash through the bad guys happens, the suppressing team moves to assist. After you have succeeded in wiping out the ambush, regroup and get your shit together.
In the far ambush (your team is out of grenade range and the fire is not too accurate). Those members in the kill zone immediately take cover and return fire. Members not in the kill zone will move, undetected, to flank the attacking team. Your kill zone guys keep pouring it on as the flanker wipe out the ambush. Gather your team and get back to business. Ambushes are cool , unless you are on the receiving end. Remember you probably got into this situation because someone wasn't paying attention. Watch everything, don't relax and win!
